# culture difference
I used to play video war-like shooting game, I tend to pick my role-play as a lone wolf which I really like. But I never thought that is a negative term in English when you describe person.
Once I joined a language exchange event (English exchange with Cantonese) hosting by a group from Meetup apps. That day I was arranged to chat with an energised young ABC who like to travel a lot. He talked enthusiastically about his traveling of North Korea, how he made fun with staff of museum, pretend himself innocence to ask sarcastic questions to made hard time to guides. We had good chat whole time.
Until almost end of the event, we were wrapping some conclusions, I made a real innocence and ignorance 無知 離地 of English comment on this guy. I said: “You are a lone-wolf”. After he heard that, he reacted with this, and said: “ Wow, it is not a compliment 讚美.” I asked dubiously 懷疑地 : “Why? I like to become a lone wolf when I am playing video” Then he started to explain to me that native english people use it as non -cooperative , might describe colleague who doesn’t like hanging with others , and someone who like to keep to themselves.
Learning English still long way to go. hope I can keep improving everyday
see ya
“ went into administration “ – 被接管
Topic phrase seems like you know the meaning, but actually you are not.
Last night my sis whatsapp me above a news regarding Jamie Oliver’s in UK, asking me whether I know the exact meaning of it
Here I found on the internet:
What does going into Administration mean?
Going into administration effectively means your company is being taken under the management of an administrator – who must be a licensed insolvency practitioner (IP). Once a company enters administration, it is given protection from creditors who may be threatening to begin legal action to recover outstanding debts. This legal stay is known as a ‘moratorium’ and can be hugely beneficial to those businesses who need time to put together a restructuring plan.
finished quote
But still wanted know how to say it in cantonese commonly and correctly.
Finally I got the answer from TVB bcz it was just podcast news just right after our chat.
It said – 被接管
“ went into administration “ – 被接管
I quite angry the accuracy of Siri via my Airpod 1st generation. Ninety-nine percent it turn out wrong, meaning that while I neglected thousands Hong Kong dollars phone’s notorious Siri function basically as I quite often to listen to my itunes playlist by Airpod.
Now, today, I am trying turn off the bluetooth on my iphone xs , and my Airpod bluetooth with my Apple watch directly, especially, my watch is LTE with paid plan, seemingly they ( watch and phone) are still paired somehow, maybe LTE or wifi, I don’t know, after all the connected icon still here;

But what I am trying to say is that my Siri is totally back on track. There absolutely are pros and cons. Cons is that this moment no reminders syncing the watch. But if the watch still can receiving call , it will be totally fine with me. Because my earbuds now connected with my watch. So this moment, I take out my another big tab phone calling myself……..it works! Awesome.
Barking Up the Wrong Tree
Barking Up the Wrong Tree
Hong Kong er Basic bitchMay 22, 2019
In Chinese culture and as a Chinese basic bitch, I am scared with using the topic idiom.
Most we talk to someone 「你問和尚借梳 」 in Chinese is similar to “ barking to the wrong tree” . But when I use English to write in a mail , I never use this English version especially they are not really good at English. As in Chinese culture, it is easy to make an impression that you are saying the receiver is a dog. Maybe foreigners will ask : “ so what as a dog, my dog is so cute , I love it” .
You know what: in chinese culture they always say dog is a bad things. Such as
走狗 lit. run dog , mean Lackey , more:
門口狗
無聲狗
一條狗
and ever when you spat 吵架 with someone, people tend to use dog as an scorn term to discriminate others.
Once I asked my English teacher, check whether has discrimination implied, the answer is NONE ! But all that said , 話雖如此, I still haven’t use it so far.
