Beyond tech companies and dinner plates, “dish” has a variety of fascinating meanings across pop culture, everyday slang, music, and sports.

1. Slang & Pop Culture

• **Gossip (“The Dish” / “To Dish”): As a noun, “the latest dish” means the latest juicy gossip. As a verb, “to dish” means to share intimate, scandalous, or private information (e.g., “Come on, dish the details on your date!”). You also see this in the common phrase “dish the dirt.”

• **An Attractive Person (“A Real Dish” / “Dishy”): Dating back to the 1920s and 1930s, calling someone a “dish” meant they were highly attractive or sexy (comparing a beautiful person to a delicious, appetizing meal). While saying “She/he is a real dish” feels a bit vintage today, the British adjective “dishy” is still frequently used to describe a good-looking man.

• Handling Criticism (“Dish it out”): The idiom “to dish it out” means to hand out harsh criticism, punishment, or insults. It’s often used in the context: “He can dish it out, but he can’t take it” (meaning someone loves to criticize others but gets easily offended when targeted).

2. Music & Entertainment

• DISH// (Japanese Band): If you track Japanese music or pop culture, DISH// (stylized with two slashes) is a highly popular Japanese pop-rock band and dance group formed by Stardust Promotion. Fronted by vocalist and acclaimed actor Takumi Kitamura, they are famous for major hits like “Neko” (猫) and have performed themes for major anime series like My Hero Academia and Naruto Shippuden

World’s first 3D-printed train station building planned by JR West | SoraNews24 -Japan News-

More intricate 錯綜複雜的 structures in a fraction of the time.

Train continues to stop at rural station for lone schoolgirl until she graduates in March | SoraNews24 -Japan News-

sprawling urban complexes, stations with their own wineries and ones with giant ancient relics whose eyes glow. It’s gotten to the point where it’s really hard to be “the first” anything when it comes to train stations, but JR West has managed it with the first-ever 3D-printed station building.

This new structure is scheduled to replace the current one at Hatsushima Station

站 on the JR Kisei Main Line in Arida City, Wakayama 和歌山 Prefecture. Like many relatively rural stations in Japan, the wooden structures are aging and in need of replacements.

▼ Call me crazy, but that might be more vending machines than necessary at a station like this.

The new building will be roughly the same size, covering 10 square meters (108 square feet) and made from a more durable reinforced concrete. The foundation and exterior of the building will be printed off-site by Osaka-based 3D-printer housing company Serendix.

▼ Serendix created the “serendix10” as their first sales model in 2022.

The station building will be printed in pieces that will undergo further processing, such as rebar installation and concrete pouring. When ready they will then be sent to the site and assembled. This process will greatly speed up construction time,

and it is expected that the old Hatsushima Station will be taken down and the new one up and running in only six hours, the time between the last train at night and first train the next morning.

In addition to requiring considerably less time, labor, and cost, this process allows for a lot more flexibility in design, well beyond the typical rectangles and triangles normally used in buildings.

This is because typical concrete buildings are made with formwork, which is a frame of wooden and/or metal beams and sheets into which the concrete is poured and given shape.

Using formwork, anything beyond a rectangle introduces problems in that special frames need to be developed both to accommodate the shape and the added weight created from the shape not being at right angles.

However, with 3D printing, more elegant curves and even intricate designs can be more easily accomplished.

▼ The Hatsushima Station building will have concrete reliefs of mikan oranges and beltfish, two of Arida City’s signature foods.

If all goes according to plan, this will become the norm for JR West’s efforts to replace aging stations. So, if you happen to wake up one morning and find your local station completely replaced with a much fancier one, you’ll know how it was done.

greenroom

The term “green room” has a few different meanings depending on the context, but it most commonly refers to a space in the entertainment industry.
Here is a breakdown of what a green room is across different fields:

1. Show Business & Live Events (Most Common)

In theatres, television studios, and concert venues, the green room is the backstage lounge or waiting room where performers, speakers, or guests relax before and after they go on stage or on camera.

  • The Purpose: It serves as a quiet sanctuary away from the audience and the chaos of production, allowing talent to review scripts, warm up, or mentally prepare.
  • The Features: It usually contains comfortable seating, mirrors, and light refreshments (snacks and drinks).
  • Does it have to be green? Rarely. Today, they are painted any color, though the name has stuck for centuries.

Where did the name come from?

The exact origin is heavily debated by historians, but a few popular theories include:

  • The Stage Connection: In medieval times, the outdoor acting area was often a grass plot referred to as “the green.” The green room may have simply been the transition room leading to it.
  • Eye Strain Relief: Some believe early performance spaces painted these rooms green to help actors’ eyes recover from the harsh glare of early stage lighting.
  • Historical Venues: As far back as 1599, London’s Blackfriars Theatre reportedly had a backstage waiting room that happened to be painted green, which may have popularized the phrase.

2. International Politics & Trade (The WTO)

In global diplomacy—particularly within the World Trade Organization (WTO)—a “Green Room meeting” refers to an informal, private meeting where a small group of heads of delegations or ambassadors gather to hash out agreements and build consensus.

Note: It is named after the Director-General’s specific conference room at the WTO headquarters in Geneva, which traditionally features green decor.

3. Pop Culture & Media

  • Green Room (2015 Film): A well-known, intense horror-thriller film starring Anton Yelchin and Patrick Stewart, centered around a punk rock band that gets trapped in a venue’s backstage green room after witnessing a crime.
  • Surfing: In surfing slang, the “green room” is a poetic term for the inside of a barrel or tube wave, where the water curves completely over the surfer, creating a temporary room of green water.

pugdog – focus – JimKwik Reticular 網狀的

  • consciously change the questions we ask ourselves daily

Here is the summary and analysis of the YouTube video titled “The Secret to Limitless FOCUS | Jim Kwik” requested in the specified staggered format.

Summary / 摘要

The video discusses how managing your focus is the ultimate key to unlocking personal productivity.

Jim Kwik explains that the brain acts primarily as a deletion device using the Reticular 網狀的Activating System (RAS) to filter out overwhelming external stimuli.

To direct this lens of awareness effectively, he emphasizes that we must consciously change the questions we ask ourselves daily.

Most of our 50,000 to 70,000 daily thoughts are repetitive, which keeps our lives and performance completely stagnant.

By asking proactive questions, like how to make a process easier or more magical, we force our minds to discover hidden solutions.

Important Quotes /

  • “Where your focus goes your time your energy flows… and that’s where your results show.”
  • “Questions are like magnets that pull information inside of your mind as opposed to someone trying to push information inside.” [04:56] 「
  • “Often the treasure we seek in life is hidden in the areas that we’re avoiding.” [09:10] 「

Vocabulary, Slangs, Phrasal Verb, and Idiom /

  • High-level Vocabulary: Stimulus (noun) — Something that rouses activity or energy in someone or something.
  • Quote: “…there’d be so much stimulus so much noise and so you could only process approximately according to different studies five to nine bits of information at a time…”
  • Slang 1: Pings (noun) — High-pitched short sounds, typically referring to digital messages or push notifications.
  • Quote: “…how do you maintain your focus and a role full of rings and pings and dings and app notifications…” [00:00]
  • Slang 2: Dings (noun) — A light ringing sound, also widely used to describe modern smartphone alert notifications.
  • Quote: “…how do you maintain your focus and a role full of rings and pings and dings and app notifications…” [00:00]
  • Phrasal Verb: Shut out (verb) — To prevent someone or something from entering or being considered.
  • Quote: “…like all the stimulus my brain was shutting out i wasn’t paying attention to them…”
  • Idiom: Planting seeds (phrase) — To subtly 隱晦地 巧妙地 suggest an idea to someone so that it can develop and benefit you later.
  • Quote: “…her birthday was coming up and she was kind of planting seeds right you know as a good marketer right planting seeds…” [03:21]

Conclusion and Verdict /

Conclusion: The video convincingly argues that our thoughts dictate our outcomes, and changing the quality of our inner dialogue is paramount to boosting productivity.

Verdict: This message is highly valuable because it provides a practical cognitive tool (the question method) to overcome subconscious stagnation.

I think like this because the explanation of the reticular activating system proves that our brain naturally filters reality based on whatever priorities we seed it with.

As Jim Kwik masterfully pointed out: “Ask and you shall receive when you ask a question like why am i never good enough you’ve charged that and all of a sudden you see answer answer answer answer…”

Therefore, masterfully shifting our questions directly shifts what our brain allows us to notice and achieve.

BritneySpears barks

Yes, Britney Spears has been open about her struggles with mental health throughout her life and career.
Her experiences became a central topic of public discussion during her highly publicized breakdown in 2007, which ultimately led to her being placed under a court-mandated conservatorship in 2008 that lasted for 13 years.
In her October 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me, and various public statements, she has shed light on several specific aspects of her mental health journey:

Depression: She revealed that she suffered from severe postpartum depression after the births of her two sons in the mid-2000s, a period during which she was also dealing with heavy scrutiny from the paparazzi and a difficult divorce.
  • Depression and Anxiety: She has shared that anxiety and depression have been ongoing battles throughout her life.
  • Bipolar Disorder & Medication: During her conservatorship保護, she was reportedly diagnosed with bipolar disorder
躁狂抑鬱症(學名「雙相情感障礙」,又稱為「兩極情緒病」、「躁鬱症」)是一種較為嚴重的情緒病 雙相情感障礙and has spoken out about being forced to take heavy psychiatric medications, such as Lithium, against her will—a treatment she described as making her feel heavily altered and disconnected.
  • Trauma and C-PTSD: Many mental health experts and advocates point out that her erratic behavior on social media and her ongoing personal struggles are heavily tied to the severe trauma and isolation she experienced during the 13 years of intense control under her conservatorship.

The intense control over Britney Spears’ life during her 13-year conservatorship came primarily from her father, James “Jamie” Spears, along with a network of court-appointed lawyers, co-conservators, and business managers.
Because it was split into a conservatorship of both her person (her health and medical choices) and her estate (her money and business deals), several figures held massive power over her from 2008 to 2021:

1. Jamie Spears (Her Father)

Jamie Spears was the central figure. He was appointed the co-conservator of her estate and the sole conservator of her person in 2008. This gave him the final say over virtually every aspect of her daily life, including:

  • Who she could see or date.
  • Her medical care and mental health treatments (including the forced administration of medications like Lithium).
  • Her reproductive choices (Spears testified that she was forced to keep an IUD to prevent her from getting pregnant).
  • He stepped down from managing her personal life in 2019 due to his own health issues but maintained strict control over her multi-million dollar finances until he was finally suspended by a judge in September 2021.

2. Andrew Wallet (Co-Conservator of the Estate)

An attorney who ran the financial side of the conservatorship alongside Jamie Spears from 2008 until he abruptly resigned in 2019. He was responsible for managing her earnings, properties, and professional contracts, making millions in legal fees from her estate during his tenure.

3. Lou Taylor & Tri Star Sports & Entertainment Group

Lou Taylor served as Britney’s business manager for much of the conservatorship. In her 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me, Britney heavily blamed Taylor and her father for orchestrating the arrangement in the first place, alleging they used the legal system and control tactics to exploit her wealth while keeping her isolated.

4. Jodi Montgomery (Care Manager)

When Jamie Spears temporarily stepped back from managing Britney’s personal life in 2019, Jodi Montgomery—a professional licensed fiduciary—was appointed by the court to take over as the conservator of Britney’s person. While Britney eventually advocated to keep Montgomery over her father, she still operated under the restrictive bounds of the court order until the entire structure was dissolved.

5. Samuel D. Ingham III (Court-Appointed Attorney)

For over a decade, Britney was deemed “incapable” of hiring her own lawyer. The court appointed Samuel Ingham to represent her interests. However, a major turning point in the #FreeBritney movement came when it was revealed that Ingham had failed to properly inform Britney that she even had the right to petition for the conservatorship to end. He resigned in 2021 after Britney spoke out in court, allowing her to finally hire her own choice of counsel, Matthew Rosengart, who quickly moved to terminate the arrangement.

The Verdict: While the state of California technically held the legal authority, Jamie Spears was the primary individual pulling the strings, backed by a lucrative circle of managers and lawyers who profited directly from keeping the pop star under strict legal confinement.
